Whether you’re new to the area, visiting for just a little while, or a local looking something fresh and new, these top 9 Brisbane parks (a mix of North and South-side) are the perfect place to start.

New Farm Park – Brunswick St, New Farm

Everybody’s heard of New Farm Park, but have ever actually gone and checked it out? You, and the kids, will love it. With its fort-like treehouse and huge bridge walk through the trees, your kids can let their imaginations – and their legs – run wild. Anyone with adventurous little ones will be glad to know this park is a climber’s dream. As well as the usual swings and slides, this park even has a merry-go-round!

A picnic lunch is a must – whether you buy from local cafes or bring your own – as the beautiful scenery and Brisbane River right next door make for a fantastic lunch-spot for the family. You can even bring the bikes for a good ride along the path or through the grass too.

Hidden World – Roghan Rd, Fitzgibbon

Great for bikes and scooters, big kids and littlies, sand-lovers and climbers, Hidden World is a park you’ll definitely want to visit. The giant, climbable sandworms and bridge-connected fortress will bring your child’s imagination to life. This crazy, colourful park has all the good old favourites and much, much more – all tucked away where you wouldn’t normally find it.

The Hidden World has all your usual amenities including BBQ areas for a spot of lunch in the between all the play – and there will be LOTS of play when you take the family to this park.

Capalaba Regional Park – Pittwin Rd North, Capalaba

Even with just the simple slides, flying fox, an entertaining fort area, this park still keeps the kids busy for hours on end. Complete with lagoons for feeding ducks (and other wildlife) and all the essential amenities, you’re in for a fantastic day at Capalaba Regional Park.

You can even bring the family pooch down for a good run in the off-leash dog park while the kids run amok (in the good way) around the park. Such spread out playgrounds mean that your kids will definitely burn off any and all energy they before either refuelling with some food, or heading home for the day.

Kidspace – Cnr Murphy and Newman Rds, Chermside

The big fort – this is what your kids will probably see first as you pull up at Kidspace. Let them run wild and dream up all the different and exciting stories they can play out in the fort, and on the slides, swings, and balance beams the accompany the fort.

The mini road and road signs make for good educational play for bigger kids who are into cars or play driving. Bring the bikes and take advantage of the mini road, or just ride around through the huge expanse of grass and parkland. With plenty of shady trees, the kids will (hopefully) not be too affected by the sun – but always remember sunscreen!

Funderwood Hollow – Underwood Rd, Priestdale

Newly opened and biggest of its kind, FUNderwood Hollow is one of the best parks in Brisbane, in Queensland – in Australia!  This treehouse-castle-fort adventure playground is the perfect place to spend the day with the kids any time of the year. Inspired by Peter Pan, and chocked full of all the best playground features, your family will love this park.

Found within Underwood Park, FUNderwood Hollow is a Spielart playground – and is the largest Spielart park in Australia. It comprises of a flying fox, pedal cars, climbing web, diggers, slides, and of course its enormous fort playground. Get in early to make a day at this park, as it seems every other family in Brisbane is keen to check out this great new park too!

Glindemann Park – Lawn St, Holland Park

This two-in-one park is perfect kids of all ages to run around and play with their friends. With one playground off the quiet Lawn St, and the other just off Logan Rd meeting in a little gully in the centre, the kids will love running between each and playing their hearts out.

One side has usual swings, slides, cubby-like play areas, and bridges, while the other side caters for  the bigger kids with a basketball half-court, huge climbing web, and simulation skateboard half-pipe (equipment that mimics the motions of a half-pipe). The perfect place to a party, Glindemann Park is great for birthdays, as well as just a lovely family day trip.

Kalinga Park – Kalinga St, Clayfield

A “wonderland” all its own, Kalinga Park is a favourite among Brisbanites. With huge open spaces and fantastic, interconnected treehouses, this park is sure to be a hit with your kids and their friends.

Littlies can have oodles of fun in the big sandpit, merry-go-round, and swings, while the big kids can run free between the treehouses, imagine they are driving on the mini road, and generally run around in all the beautiful nature of this park. BBQ areas and picnic spots galore, this park is great for a lunch rendezvous as well.
