As we approach the end of school holidays and it’s time to head back to reality, I have a moral dilemma …

It’s been a busy break in our household, and keeping a four-year-old entertained for a few weeks has resulted in the following very unique pieces of creativity:

  • 1 cardboard box gigglemobile (probably a result of slightly too much ABC4kids!)
  • 1 rocket made of rolled-up paper and pom poms
  • 1 huge fingerpainting collage – the size of our dining table
  • 25 coloured-in Christmas pictures
  • 1 car track built from plantpots, sticks, and ridiculous amounts of glue
  • 6 Christmas snowflakes made from paddlepop sticks
  • 1 rather haphazard gingerbread house made of coloured card
  • 8 Christmas hanging decorations made from paper and string
  • 1 toilet roll bumblebee

Now, even though none of them will ever win a Turner Prize, each one represents a fun afternoon surrounded by glitter and glue, as together we created something that would be unrecognisable to most.

But now the break is coming to an end… what happens to all of our creations??

We certainly don’t have the space to store them all, especially as we will probably do it all again next school holidays. But to throw them away seems incredibly cold-hearted… not to mention the tantrum that it will probably invoke in Mr4.

So tell me, what do you do with all of your children’s art?
