The whole family can enjoy a virtual journey into the wonderful world of the Southern Ocean and Antarctica and engage with world class interactive and immersive experiences in this exciting new attraction. Plus, it’s great value at only $45 for a family of four.

A taste of what’s to explore in the three-level Antarctic Journey

  • Phillip Island is showcased on the first level, and features a fascinating interpretive display on the successful conservation of the island’s remaining penguin colony on Summerland Peninsula. Entry to this level, the Gateway to Antarctica, is free.
  • Descend into The Lab, jam packed with fun-filled hands on activities designed to both entertain and educate. ‘Feel the freeze’ in the Antarctic Chill Zone, explore the sights and sounds of Antarctic wildlife in the Sound Lab and Research Station or compare your thermal image with an Emperor penguin. The critically important conservation values of this remote continent come alive to make this a truly enjoyable learning adventure.
  • The final level is known as The Chamber, and is one of complete immersion in what can only be described as a breathtaking, state-of-the art multimedia experience which puts visitors right in the heart of the action. The interactive wildlife experience is sure to be a highlight, as visitors see themselves on a giant screen, standing on an ice floe, patting a penguin, stroking a seal, or reaching out to a killer whale at arm’s length, all thanks to a cutting-edge sensory entertainment experience.

With the stunning Antarctic landscape as the backdrop, and interactive wildlife experiences to enjoy, visitors will learn about the need for conservation of the Southern Ocean and Antarctica, and that by working together we can all play a part in protecting our natural world.

Phillip Island penguins

Since its official launch just before Christmas, families from both near and far have experienced the Antarctic Journey and taken their own virtual trip to the world’s most extreme continent. The hands-on family fun and the interactive experiences have been a real hit with both the young and the young at heart.

As the first attraction in Australia to share the WWF brand, this development is a world-class addition to the much loved attractions of the Penguin Parade, Koala Conservation Centre, Churchill Island Heritage Farm and Wild Oceans EcoBoat tours, all operated by Phillip Island Nature Parks.

The Antarctic Journey is open from 10.00am daily and is located at the Nobbies Centre, just 3 minutes’ drive from the Penguin Parade at the western end of Phillip Island.
