NEWS: IVF patients could save thousands as a new bulk-billing clinic opens in Sydney.
The clinic, the first of its kind in Australia, will bulk-bill almost all of its services. This means IVF patients will see out-of-pocket expenses drop from an average of $4000 to just $500.
Primary Health Care has opened today (July 21, 2014) and has already had more than 300 inquiries.
Chief executive Dr Edmund Bateman told The Daily Telegraph that any procedure that could be bulk-billed, would be.
“If the medical procedure has an item number (with Medicare) we will bulk-bill it and you will pay nothing for it,” he said.
Services not covered by Medicare such as the freezing of embryos and day surgery, would not be bulk-billed but were expected to cost no more than $500.
