You must read this if you use a Chicco KeyFit Plus Infant Car Seat fitted with Hemco Adjustable Tether Extension Straps!
The extension straps have been recalled due to a safety hazard!
These straps need replacing as soon as possible – read on for more info.
The car seat itself is not being recalled – it is still safe to use – just the Hemco Adjustable Tether Extension Straps that are being recalled.
The reason for recalling is that the metal connecting hooks at either end of the Tether Strap may deform or break under load stress (as may be experienced in a collision). This is due to inadequate heat tempering/hardening of the metal parts.
This means that in the event of a car crash, the car seat may not remain properly secured and thus increases the risk of injury for your bub.
The straps were sold individually, and with Chicco KeyFit Plus Infant Car Seat, and Chicco KeyFit Plus Base. They were sold nationally via My Baby Warehouse, Harvey Norman, Big Buys, Baby Junction, ToysRUs, and MiniMee from 25th July 2014 – 15th October 2014.
