So don’t let the boredom settle in, and keep the kids entertained (and even getting a little outside school hours education into them). Have a look at these great places.
Under $20
SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium (Open daily 9:30am – 7:00pm)
The new Dugong Island is opening at SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium these school holidays – come check out this new area and see the dugongs up close!
Kids and parents alike will love to explore the mysterious underwater world of the Dugongs at this new Dugong Island. With an all-new, interactive experience allowing guests to walk through an underwater shipwreck will be fantastic for sea-loving little ones. This island showcases the only pair of Dugongs on display in the world!
Archery Centre – Kids on Target & Little Archers
Are you kids fans of Robin Hood? They can learn archery techniques and have fun playing archery games. All equipment and instruction is provided and no experience is necessary.
Pony rides, Centennial Parklands
Got a horse-lover? They love a hand-led short pony ride in Centennial Park. The ponies are carefully matched to suit the ability and confidence of the child riding it. They are expertly guided by trained horse handlers so they can get the most out of the experience and have fun!
DIG IT! Mini-archaeologists in training workshops
Let your kids transform into a hands-on archaeological detective where they can investigate the history of Fort Phillip at the Sydney Observatory. They can go on an archaeology dig, sort and analyse the artefacts, and use them to discover long-lost treasures from life on Observatory Hill. They can also make a traditional peg doll soldier, signal master, or one of the Moffitt family – it’ll be just like the children who lived here 150 years ago used to do! They will also be solar viewing through an outdoor telescope, if the weather permits, that is.

WilderQuest playful possums kids tour (Thursday 25 September, 10am to 12pm)
Let your kids get personal with the cute and playful possums of the Australian bush on this school holiday adventure.
They can go on a hunt through Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park for possum tracks, and follow the tracks back to find their favourite home. A healthy morning tea is provided, and they can participate in fun games too.
Convict Sydney, Hyde Park Barracks Museum (Daily 9:30am – 5:00pm)
A new exhibition at Hyde Park Barracks Museum explores the convict experience – from transportation to how they forged a new life in the colony of New South Wales. Learn how the convict workers made an outstanding contribution to the building of early Sydney. Find out all about the everyday lives of convicts who were at the barracks between 1819 and 1848.
Little Leapers, Sky Zone Alexandria (weekdays until 4pm)
Your kids can experience the world’s first indoor trampoline park, right in Sydney! Hundreds of trampolines, all interconnected, and they form one enormous trampoline that will have you and the kids bouncing off the walls – literally! Go on down to Sky Zone and explore all the anti-gravity fun of a regular session in a safe and relaxed environment.
