With the weather warming up again, the season for beach trips is nearly upon us. If you’re in NSW, or planning a trip there soon, here are four of the best beaches in Sydney that you should definitely visit, and the kids will love them.
Coogee Beach
This beach is super family-friendly as it has a calm surf, a great expanse of sand for playing, and big grass areas for picnics and playing non-sand games. It isn’t as glamorous as Bondi Beach, which is a short, scenic walk away, but it definitely delivers for kids who don’t care about the hype of a big, famous beach. Located off Arden St, approximately 20 minutes out of Sydney CBD.
Clovelly Beach
This beach lies at the mouth of bay between two ridges, which makes the water nice and calm for little ones to play in without fear of getting hurt or scared by waves. It is the perfect place for slightly younger kids who are not as confident in the surf yet. They can watch the waves in the distance, and still play in the water and have a good time. You can visit the café in you don’t want to bring your own lunch – or there are concrete surfaces to have a picnic on if you’re so inclined! Located off Clovelly Rd, approximately 20 minutes out of Sydney CBD.
Balmoral Beach
With its shallow rocks pools, and great surf, Balmoral Beach caters for kids of any age. Whether yours are the type to get straight out into the waves, or just learning about all the fun things you can do at the beach, this place is one of the best places to be. There are rock caves, a little island, and so many other things for the kids to explore – plus a fantastic restaurant to treat the family to some great food for either lunch or dinner. Located off the Esplanade, approximately 25 minutes out of Sydney CBD.
Bondi Beach
And lastly, you can’t go past the famous Bondi Beach. With all its grown-up attractions, it certainly doesn’t miss the kids – there are so many things for kids have fun doing at Bondi Beach. They can ride bikes, skateboards, and scooters along the promenade, or even try out the skate park if they are a little more adventurous. There are little kid friendly sections of beach at the Icebergs swimming pool at the southern end, and a wading pool at the northern end. You can let the kids out into the ocean, or just have them playing in the sand. There are also many places to eat and drink, so if you don’t want to pack your own picnic
