I started back at work when my first born was just five weeks old.

It was only for four hours on a Sunday afternoon but it was just long enough to miss a feed.

If you’re a new mum you’ll understand how stressful it was for me – having just established an awesome breastfeeding relationship with my son to then have to go shopping for my “replacement”.

I asked for advice from midwives, doctors, from parenting books and of course on the Bub Hub forum about whether he was too young and whether he’d experience what I’d heard referred to as ‘nipple confusion’ – as the technique used for breastfeeding is so different from bottle feeding. I was honestly scared. I was scared that he’d not want the bottle and would go hungry or that he would LOVE the bottle and not want me anymore! Obviously, I looked for a bottle that most closely resembled breastfeeding.

If this bottle was on the market then, I would have bought it.

The Calma – from Medela –  works to maintain your baby’s natural feeding behaviour. With this bottle your baby can breathe, feed and pause similar as on the breast. It doesn’t have to be so stressful to find the perfect bottle for your expressed breastmilk because with the Calma switching between breast and bottle is no longer a massive change for baby.

It is so hard for mums these days – you’re encouraged to breastfeed and you want to breastfeed for as long as you can – but things don’t always go as planned. Sometimes you need to go back to work earlier than you thought, or maybe you just need a break and let dad feed the baby so you can have a much-needed rest. With the Calma, you don’t have to stress about whether your baby is missing out.

With Calma …

… your baby can feed, pause and breathe regularly.

… milk will not flow unless a vacuum is created.

… milk flow stops when the baby relaxes to pause and breathe.

… your baby‘s natural feeding behaviour will be maintained supporting easy transition back to the breast.

Also, Calma is easy to assemble and clean. It comes with 2 multi-lids that prevent spillage and close the bottle tightly, plus a protective cap.
