Just in time for swim season (and drowning season) Laurie Lawrence’s Kids Alive – do the five has teamed up with Health Minister Peter Dutton with a new education program that aims to combat drowning.
This new early childhood program is aimed at little kids who are learning to swim and includes great information and key safety messages to make sure your little ones are always safe around water.
The Water Safety Resource Pack for Early Learners includes a CD of music, a DVD, and four books that target water safety around the home, on farms, at the pool, and at the beach. These resources are have been assessed by early childhood education specialists to make sure they are appropriate and appealing to young kids, and link to the Early Years Learning Framework – so your little one should be able to pick up on and learn the messages with ease!
Many swim safety organisations such as Swim Australia and Surf Lifesaving are on board with the campaign, and are progressing full steam ahead for Australia Post to deliver the resources included in this program to every learning centre in Australia for free. These resources will be sent out in October, and are free online now for parents to download.
Parents, carers, and educators alike can access these resources from the Kids Alive website as well as at their local learning centre once they have arrived.
So keep your kids safe this swim season – do the five!
